Common Seller Mistake #2
Basing your sales price on what you paid for the home
The real estate market changes and while we all want our homes to increase in value, sometimes that is not the next cycle that we get. Probably many in the realtor community have heard this one before. "I paid $100,000 for this house 3 years ago. The value should have increased to $125,000 by now." The amount paid may vary but the expectation of increase remains.
Realtors do not determine the price of a home. There are a number of things which influence the housing market including the price someone is willing to pay. The reason for selling your home at a particular time has a lot to do with how well you take the information and suggestions from your realtor and position your home to sell. Neither wishes, nor shoulds, nor they said they sold for, will aid in getting your home sold and moving on. Sometimes your timing is not in lline with the market and you should simply wait.
